CRIMINAL PROFILE:
Jacqueline Simpson is a researcher and author on folklore and legend. She studied English Literature and Medieval Icelandic at Bedford College, University of London. She has been an active member of the Folklore Society since the 1960s, having served at various times as Editor, Secretary, and President. Her books include Icelandic Folktales and Legends, The Folklore of Sussex, The Folklore of the Welsh Border, British Dragons, Scandinavian Folktales, The Oxford Dictionary of English Folklore (in collaboration with Steve Roud), and The Lore of the Land: A Guide to England’s Legends (in collaboration with Jennifer Westwood).
She has been a point of reference for Terry since he met her at a book signing in Worthing, her home town, in 1997 - which then led to their collaboration on The Folklore of Discworld in 2008.
When planning which events to attend at the convention, one of her talks or storytelling sessions is very much recommended, or even just talk to her in the lobby. She has also been known to participate in the odd game of Werewolf.
